Humans are no longer necessary? No. How do you expect the big car companies to pump out the volume they do without automation? 2 million cars a year, think about that.

While most of the automation is done in the bodyshop and paint shop, what the video doesn't show is that there's an entire army of workers there too. Assembly of the car (interior trims, electronics ect...) are still done by humans.

So no, the system is not going to "strangle" itself.
