Hi there, I'm a Portuguese South African, born here but my parents are immigrants from Madeira Island. Anyway we do have a problem with crime here, with corrupt police etc, I suppose we "used" to it.
According to stats the most stolen vehicle in SA is the Toyota Hilux and cars it's the VW Polo, but then the Hilux has the highest sales figures and with cars it's the Polo.
Basically any vehicle is a target. The problem is the damn thugs that buy the vehicles or parts, a high percentage also land up in neighboring countries like Mozambique & Zimbabwe
Another point is that crime happens everywhere not just in SA
