I respectfully disagree. I had a brand new (6 miles) loaner 128i with the leatherette for a month and a half while I waited on my build. Mine has the leather. I may just be more sensitive to it than others, but I sweat more on any kind of vinyl than on leather. Superficially though, and to a simple touch, yes the leatherette is a superb counterfeit.
I had to ask the dealer if it was the leatherette but the sweat and the subtly artificial look to the grain on it was the giveaway.
