Downards in the Z range will be the FWD Z1/Z2 developed on the UKL platform (sisters of new Mini roadster / coupé ). Upwards there might be a hypothetical luxury Z7/Z8 to fight the Merc SL and bridge the gap towards the 1M€ Rolls-Royce V16 super roadster (or maybe there will be no Z7/Z8 if this role will already be assigned to the Z5/Z6).
Since the Z are traditionally front-mid-engined, I think all these should not be mixed up with the new supercar per se, the M1 or M10 or whatever which will be rear-mid-engined to fight the likes of the McLaren 12C and which should be unveiled, at least in concept form, for BMW's 100th annivesary in 2016.
