1. I actually did this by going to the advanced options and turning on the zoom function. It works, however, only when the dvd is already in widescreen.. if the original DVD is in 4:3, then it will just zoom to 16:9.
2. This was done through coding. I chanced the necessary functions and then it was just a matter of pressing the PDC button. If it goes to top-view first (if you have this), then you need to change to the rear-view camera by selecting the option in the iDrive (second option from the top for me, you can see me chance this in the video).

For number 1, I think you are right, it's because my dvd is 4:3
As for number 2, I only have the backup camera and rear sensor so I don't have a PDC button
I also tried assigning a memory preset to the reverse camera and it won't let me. The reason I want this is that I use it when I am parking forwards in my garage to tell if I'm in far enough for the garage door to close. The only way I can turn the camera on is by putting it in reverse and then drive to continue parking.
