Well, I guess it would matter in most US states because no ever bothers to use them anyway.

White/amber for front of the car, red for the rear. If the brake and headlights are off, you know the front from the back just by the blinker color.
It's like a boat - the port side has the red light, the starboard side has the green, and the rear has the white light
