What you see in the pictures is all I can share. IF there is an "up" or "down" of the bulb, it wasn't noted to me. I installed the adapters in the best way I could. If that placed the bulb upside down, then it did. If I have a "bad beam pattern" I don't notice it. I am very satisfied with my set up.
