If your looking for practicality in the mountains then I'd go with xdrive . I drove a 320i drive and I found that with traction control off, no matter how hard I tried, there was no slip what so ever and that kind of dulled the bmw experience for me. But as has already been said, no body can choose your options for you and I wouldnt choose any options based on a future resale ability.
