One main difference between the evo (I also owned one) and the BMW is the level of encryption in the BMW ecu. Essentially the evo ecu was "open source" insofar as it was easy to get in and make changes. BMW locks theirs down so tight it takes special programming skills just to get in and see what's happening.
Everything with the evo felt like mitsu intended people to race them - from the ease of getting negative camber in the suspension, to the brakes, to the seats, to the ease of stripping the interior. It made for fun modifying experiences! BMW is just a bit different...  |
Completely agree. Had an Evo as well that was modded and tracked. Much more easy and cheap to mod. When giving that up and purchasing this car I decided I will be keeping my f30 (328i) as stock as possible. My only mods might be msport grills lol.
