Have you shopped E46 prices lately? A "nice" E46 is going for more than $16K. I think the rise in E30 M3 prices has pushed a lot of the used M3 market on to the E46 models, which has driven prices up. If you want to buy a high-mileage car with a worn interior, sure, but a nice E46 with reasonable mileage is going to cost you $20K or more.

I do agree that $25K is on the high end though. I've seen low-mileage collector-owned cars going for mid to high 20s.
