And coming from a car that used a touch-based Nav, I can honestly say it's a step in the wrong direction. You take you eyes off the road far too often trying to "aim" for a part of the screen. The iDrive controller is much more exact, and safer.

+1 A touch-based Nav system is a step back, to hit the correct place in the screen you have to remove your eyes from the road and that's no good.
