RFTS--High Insurance Premium

Another problem with the RFTs...it makes the wheel/tire insurance very expensive.

I had an 07' E90 335i with sport package and 162 rims (sweet). But I had to replace 3 of my RFTs over a 5 year period due to eggs on the side walls. I also had one bent 162--$450.

Total out the door was about $2,200 for these replacements. So insurance saved me some $$$.

You are not running the low profile sport RFTs...so you may be okay. If you were going 19s RFT with low profile...I would say its a must.

Think it was Car and Drive who just did their 40,000 mile review on the 535i and they spent $4400 on new tires and bent rims over that mileage...WOW the added weight to the new 5er is wreeking havoc on the low profile RFTs and soft sport rims.

I now drive a 2012 Audi S4 with 19's and low profile summer tires (I live in NC so we rarely get snow) and the tire insurance was less than HALF. $600 bucks.

For that price it was a no brainer...especially when running with low profile sport 19 Contis.

The RFTs make replacement expensive...and insurance expensive.
