I have worked a few months at a BMW prep-Center till yesterday where all the new cars delivered to and stored and almost every single one had etched stain on them. I can honestly recommend to try heat gun first which is the usual routine to remove them and it really works, just place above the stain for a few seconds and you'll be amazed as it will disappear. I've done it every day and since I know this method I really don't stress about my car. But don't use on the bumpers(plastic). Might sounds a bit unusual but works without attacking the clear coat with some compound!
