No, the 335i vs S4 makes more sense. They have similar performance and price. An M3 has almost 100 more horsepower than an S4 and a starting price of about 13k more.
The RS4 is what's supposed to compete with the M3, although I'm not sure Audi is offering that in the U.S. right now.
