If you include the new 6 series (F12&13) amongst "All newer BMWs", all I can say is that, for all the the fancy description, it doesn't work.
I found the screen suffered from glare in both the above models, whereas my F10, with it's cowled dash placement, is perfect.
I've yet to drive the F30 and if, when I do so, I find there's no glare, I'll stand corrected. However, glare or not, I still think it looks like a stick-on afterthought.
