For metal parts, you can use a reputable metal polish.

For other coated plastics including chrome look grilles, etc you can use polish to buff out scratches, depending on their severity. There are also plastic polishes available. Really depends what you are trying to rectify. Sometimes scratches on plastic are hard to correct.
