There appears to be a wide variety of cradle/adapters available Can anyone explain the differenced and which one I need

I have (or will have) a 2013 M Sport 328, with tech package. Tech package includes smart phone intergration, enhanced USB/Bluetooth, and Apps.

Some cradles are obviously meant to work in cars with apps installed But There are also cheaper cradles that appear ti work if you have enhanced blue tooth or smartphone integration.

What is the difference, and which do I need? BMW apps doesn't seem that great to me, so if I can get the same functionality for less $, I;d certainly like to.
