Why? Why wouldnt you just spend $40 a sensor and have it installed in the 1st place when you upgraded your rims and tires, because I assuming you cut corners and didnt have TPMS insalled. And not aware of coding but Im sure it can be done.

But, they do add about $225 to the price of a set of tires, and I don't mind checking the pressure manually. The warning lights and such would get annoying though.

2007 or 08 it became a law in the U.S. I believe all cars had co come equipped.

I know if I get a low tire, it will put on the warning light, show a message on the instrument panel display (preventing me from seeing the outside temperature, mileage, and trip odometer that are normally displayed), and it will show a message on the iDrive screen when I first start the car. If it does the same things when there are no TPMS in there, I don't think I want to deal with that for 4 months out of the year.

You get the warning light, its the little exclamation point and the triangle come and stay on, and the low tire looking thing stay on. Oh and if you get a flat it wont tell you or a sudden loss of tire pressure...wich if you dont know you have a flat and you continue to drive the vehicle something is wrong with you lol.
