The 5er GT is not "exclusively" for the US market, neither is every BMW model, BMW's are meant to have universal appeal they are not exclusively market orientated.

5er GT in under a year on the North American market has outsold the same amount of 5er Touring models combined within a two year period.
Of the two years of sales with the 5er Touring , BMW has sold more GT's in just under a year.

Total worldwide units sold of 5er Gran Turismo stand at over 20,000, that is in under a year and for a low volume car , that is significant.
The car is popular in Europe and surprisingly there is a demand for the car in China.

BMW count the introduction of the 5er Gran Turismo as successful, because it has opened up the market to customers who never considered a BMW before with the combination of a high end passenger orientated cabin this side of a Rolls-Royce and elavated driving position being huge drawing cards for the 5er Gran Turismo's appeal. Female owners apparently reckon the car has enough flexibility and also find the car has the perfect driving position.

BMW 3er Gran Turismo will fullfill the characteristics known within the 3er but will do so in a much sleeker , dynamic looking package.
