I'd rather pay for delivery 2-3 times a year when I need to carry something big, then to drive around in a empty wagon/SUV 95% of the time with nothing in the trunk. Plus, almost everything you've mentioned, I've purchased online and have it delivered to my house or directly to auto shop. And you can fit snowboards/skis with fold down rear seats.
