I agree about the price observation.
I'm not having a go at the 328, but a lot of women buy 3-series BMW's. I'd guess the vast majority don't care about 60 extra HP and will buy a 328 with a technology/nav package. Add in price conscience or HP oblivious male 3-series buyers, and add it just adds up to a lot more 328i's being manufactured and sold.
None of us are Michael Schumacher, the 328 covers it adequately for 90% of the buyers.
