Went for my first long run in the car this morning to pick my parents up from Southampton. Driving down there I got 56.4mpg sticking to 65mph mostly as I had plenty of time.
On the way back with them on board, the car fully loaded with all their luggage after coming off a 3 week cruise, and with the cruise control on 85mph all the way back to get home quickly it averaged 47mpg overall. I work that out as only 40.1mpg for the return trip. The speed (and load) makes a big difference!
