I finally can contribute to this thread! I found an alternate trunk release button besides the one in the glove box. It's above the hood release and below the light switch. It's really difficult to see. It's small but there. I had to push it to made sure it worked. It looked like such a random placed button.

Oh for cryin out loud, I've had my car for almost six months now, thinking there was no physical trunk release button on the driver's side. Nice post.
