Because so far the 306ps M Sport 335i is the best BMW has to offer below the hardcore M3, while Audi has the 340ps S4 in between the S-Line V6 and the RS4.
The versions will compete as follows :
- regular 335i vs regular A4 V6 (regular car with regular engine)
- M Sport 335i vs S-Line A4 V6 (sporty taste to the interior and aero kit, stiffer suspension, but still regular engine)
- M335i [yet to come] vs S4 (significantly tweaked suspension and engine, even sportier feel to the interior)
- M3 vs RS4 (hardcore "supercars")
