Yes, I think you're right, you can keep the system on AUTO w/ A/C on. I
believe that setting acts as an air filtration system.
My personal preference in the winter time is to keep the temp on AUTO but A/C
off,
Seems to work out fine, I switch the A/C to on in the summer with AUTO on. So, basically the reverse.
