Not Melbourne to Sydney, but thus far, my longest trip was to Mornington (& back of course) on Xmas day via Monash Fwy & Eastlink. Sitting on 100km/h is a JOKE in the 328i. Feels like 60km/h. Actually, for many cars, 100km/h is a joke on Eastlink. What a good road till it narrows to meet the Frankston Fwy. Still ok, but the soon to be open fwy extension will be a welcome infrastructure for many.

Anyway, earlier this year I took my E90 to Albury & back via back roads in 42 degree heat without issue on the very hard sports suspension. Thinking about the F30's sports suspension in comparison, I would be floating. I'm surprised you had a hard time with your sports suspension J1n. I'm off to Echuca soon. Roads won't be anywhere near as nice as Eastlink. I will report back on suspension then, but I expect it to be very positive after living with the E90's suspension for 7 years. Not complaining about it at all by the way.
