I have driven 3 different cars with N47 in various tunes & each time I spent around 2 weeks & over 2500kms in each of them, so I'm not a stranger to the 4-pot BMW diesel. Needless to say the current BMW petrol turbos does everything the diesels can do apart from fuel economy.
I drive 8AT but that doesn't matter cos I always use EcoPro & the gearbox doesn't kickdown easily, plus it changes gear mostly at around 1500rpm.
I thing I know one other person who drives pretty much the same way as you,. and thats my wife.
