I had the same battery warning appear in my 2012 328i during the extreme cold temperature we have been having this week. I contacted the dealership and they told me not to bring the car in. They said take the car on the highway and drive it at 100km/h for about an hour and the car will recharge the battery itself.
So i did that, and the problem so far has gone away.
