The cost of the prototype was closer to $300,000 and Polestar sold 10 more to other customers willing to pay the same. The thing that interested me is the remark that these upgrades will be available at Volvo dealers. What the hell is Jalopnik talking about? If you read the list of upgrades to that car, that statement makes no sense.
I suspect they're going to have a Polestar ECU flash (good for +30hp) and some minor performance parts available at Volvo dealers.
It would be pretty sweet if Volvo made a purpose-built detuned version of the S60 Polestar for the masses (even if it cost upwards of $60k - $80k). Unfortunately, I read a report that states that a production version of the car would cost upwards of $155,000.
