I think engine-wise nobody is gogin to beat the 3-series engines. The problem is that precision engineering is not making its way into the rest of the car, which reviewers and BMW are saying has become more of a marketable luxury car than an enthusiast's sport sedan. Cadillac seems to be tuning the car to be a sport sedan and making it luxurious inside, but it seems that the transmission in the 2.0 is causing it to fall short of the BMW.
