Surely to keep the BMW for leisure driving, and running another car is not going to save much money, if any, long term. The leisure driving will then be the very expensive bit.

Why not put the miles on the BMW, it is built for it, more so than plodding around the block.

BMWs are made to be driven (fast and/or for long distances). You still drive the car luxuriously no matter how you drive it.
