The guys buying these trim pieces are focusing around streamlining the design of the car. There are lips and extensions on all sides of the car and some feel it looks incomplete have the ends of the back bumper left out so they complete the "detail" with these pieces.
Makes perfect sense to me, no one talking about performance enhancements. If anything your adding weight to the car so in some senses it's a drawback.
Looks clean in my opinion.
