I will respond to my own post above. Yes you can disable the feature that stops you from driving if your door is open. As stated above before you put the car in drive (auto trans), make sure the handbrake is applied. Once you put it in drive, remove the hand brake and you are good to go.

I think if you start the car with the door open it'll let you drive it also. |
That has not worked for me before but I will give it a try again today
