You can ask your dealer to cover it. I suggest being nice as pie about it when you ask. BMW usually doesn't cover wear on items that get touched such as seats, steering wheels or trim.
That being said, my local dealer replaced some items for me under warranty such as trim. I asked nicely and it didn't hurt I have a good relationship with them.
