The rear certainly looks like the 5 series and (from a distance) this F30 could certainly be mistaken for a 5 series by average drivers. Still, it might just be the angle that this photo is taken, but the F30 headlights does suggest hints of the F20 1 serie's headlights, but it seems to be done more tastefully than the 1 series.
Of course, the really important question, as some posters have already implied, is the performace and handling. We've seen some criticism that the F10 seem to have lost a bit of it's previous sportiness (a debatable point-others say the F10 is just fine), but when it comes to the 3 series, BMW really don't want to lessen the performance or handling edge.
