NEW: Rotating Tires with a Staggered Setup?

I was watching MotorTrend TV last night, and they were showing a new tire from a 6 series that was bi-directional, so you could rotate them from one side to the other. They said an additional advantage from rotating your tires - on top of the longer life - is that it limited the increase in road noise as the tire wears.

I'm considering order a new F30 with a squared, instead of staggered setup mainly due to the additional cost (and noise) associated with not being able to rotate my tires.

But if rotating tires may be possible on a staggered setup, I may consider staying with this setup. I know that special tires would need to be purchased just for this reason, so does anyone know how wide-spread these types of tires are?
