Yes, the 'Connected' app is the one that needs the cable or the cradle to fully integrate. Or in my case it doesn't seem to integrate at all.

My hazy memory tells me the same thing. You need to add on the Mobile Application Preparation option which then adds on the additional USB. Originally I added it as it sounded such a funny name for an option that it had to be worth having
