My wife has a Volvo SUV and I have a 1989 325 convertible as a weekend car. This new car will be my daily driver. My kids are in college and they have their own cars. I have always preferred coupes since I think they are sportier and most of time I am driving alone or with my wife. I was leaning toward coupe, but the savings on the sedan is very tempting. I'm purchasing the car, so I want to keep for 7-10 years.
So the trade off seems to be practicality and lower cost of sedan vs. sportier coupe. I know this is a personal preference choice, but I am struggling with the right, long term choice. I'd appreciate any advice.

My advice: Wait until the 4 series comes out and test drive it before you make a decision I know it might be a while but it's the smart thing to do
