With the ever more stringent economy rules, anything you can do to improve the vehicle's efficiency is getting added. Some hate the start/stop feature, obviously, some hate the fender vent. The rear spoiler adds mechanical complexity and cost, but should actually increase efficiency as well as function. This all goes into the overall scheme of things...it doesn't do you any good to 'hate' it...it will become much more common as things progress, and you'll not notice it as much since everyone will have one.

Personally, I look more at how a vehicle drives and functions than what it looks like...I can't see the outside when I'm using it and it's hard to get a good view when it's in the garage! I really don't care what other people think. If you're that uptight about how it looks, at least BMW gives you choices...nobody is putting a gun to your head and saying you HAVE to buy it!
