If you trust the engineers and their science, then this is a result of how you've driven the car. If the car has not been driven hard and the oil is still doing it's job, there's no need to replace it yet.
On the other hand, is the people who say this is just their way of making them do as little work on your car for free as possible. There's truth on both sides of the coin.
