My local BMW body shop do it themselves & the supplying dealer definitely refurbished alloys themselves.
I suppose you need to ask the body shop the question , do you actually refurbish the alloys in house or do you farm the work out.
I was given a BMW body shop written guarantee on the refurbishment of the alloys.
Don't forget BMW body shops are repairing BMW alloys all the time, & so are more likely to match the colour of your alloy.
At the end of the day, my experience with these sort of repairs is that , the quality of the repair depends on the calibre of the technician & the calibre of the body shop manager.
