BTW 180 hp and 280 lb-ft should be more than enough. 0-60 in 7.2 seconds is perfect to me. The 320d is rated at higher mpg in Europe than a Passat TDI... let's see what the EPA says ...

BMWNA are just being assholes trying to rip you off big time.
Here in Sweden the the 320d is is $3k cheaper than the 328i.
No wonder the diesel boom hasn't hit the US if all they try to do is rip you off.
About the mileage, it's probably going to be rated at ~40 mpg but as you see from my fuelly mine's averaging close to 50 mpg. No problem hitting 60's either if you stay the limit in eco pro
