Definitely can be installed by the dealer. It is very quick and easy as it is just software that is "uploaded".
As stated in this thread there are other non-BMW products available. Dinan being a reputable alternative. I have tried an aftermarket software tune on another vehicle with great success. But given the price point and relative complexity of the 335i I'm gonna stick with BMW products on this car.
