Nonetheless, if a dealer's mechanic fails to remove the shipping blocks during the PDI, it is an inexcusable error and the person responsible should be reprimanded. Such an error suggests either a lack of proper training by the dealer's service supervisory staff or lack of attention on the part of the mechanic. During the PDI process, the car must be placed on a hoist. These shipping blocks are easy to see and to remove.
