If you have access to a hose (I don't) a rinse is always a good idea. I use a spray bottle to pre-treat the panel I'm going to wash with ONR, mixed 16:1. I usually spray the wheels before starting the wash, then spray the immediate panel down before hitting it with the mitt and ONR.

Provided you're out of the sun (I wash in my garage) you can let ONR dry on the paint before you do your final wash. So you could dump a bucket of ONR over the whole car as a pre rinse if you have enough drainage and really wanted to be as thorough as possible.

Many detailers add a cap of ONR to the rinse bucket of a normal wash setup as it helps separate the dirt from the wash medium. It's pretty cool stuff.
