Tires are like shoes, it also depends what conditions you use them most often. For Texas with mostly dry condition, you'll find many good choices. But as soon as handling in wet road condition becomes important, only a few will be left to choose from.
Continetal Sport Contact 5P or Dunlop Sport Maxx is my choice.
I've not noticed understeer much at all, but then I've only had it a month or so, and really have not been out of town yet. Most of my driving is confined to suburbia where understeer normally isn't an issue.

I'm wondering though how many miles I will get out of them.
