The ext warranty is cheaper to buy now since you won't need it for 4 years. If you put a time value of money on it the ext warranty price now compared to 4 years from now is not much of a difference.
You can always extend the factory warranty up until the original warranty expires.
If you are 100% sure you are keeping the car long term you may consider it now so you can finance it versus writing a check later. If there any doubts, or you are leasing, deal with it later.
