I understand the appeal of the 4 cyl engine, which is very impressive and how much more similar the 328’s are to the 335’s, but
I’m surprised how many more 328’s there are compared to 335’s.

On the E9X forum 328's are a lot less discussed and it doesn't appear to be as many 328's owners on the site. It’s about a 8K to 10K price difference
between the 2 with the same options. Maybe it’s the price?
In Canada, the difference ($5250) is far less between a well equipped 328 (with Executive + Premium) and similarly equipped 335i (Premium).

For that amount, the 335i comes standard with the following features that are unavailable on the 328i in Canada:

1. adaptive head lights
2. high beam assist
3. decoding for high beam assist
4. decoding for variable light
5. Sport auto transmission w/paddles
6. upgraded brakes
7. blow by heater
8. upgraded exhaust system
9. superb six cylinder engine with 300+hp and 300+ lbs.ft torque
10. superb soundtrack

and one more reason to go for the 335i in Canada: The M Sport package ! (not available with 328i in Canada)

The downsides to ordering a 335i : apart from the extra cost, the current long wait times for a factory order (especially RWD) and the fact that demand far exceeds dealer supply.

As for fuel economy, the Transport Canada ratings show a difference of only 0.5 litres/100 kms between the 328i combined city/hwy and the 335i combined city/hwy. Compared to a 328i Xdrive, the 335i RWD is rated as more fuel efficient !!!
