F10 got worse mileage, $7K more, judged less reliable by Consumer Reports, and longer and wider (small garage) than F30. Had reputation of being less responsive. Easy choice.
The harder choice was my initial target, the 1-series - fabulous reviews, even cheaper, although kind of ugly and weaker in gadgets. But it was just too small, both in headroom and in the backseat.
