The first F30 I drove was a 328i. I was thoroughly impressed by the N20.
Then I drove the N55-equipped F30 335i. As much as I liked the N20, it wasn't even close, in my opinion.
The 328i (3410 lbs) isn't that much lighter than the 335i (3555 lbs), either.
Bottom line - You can't go wrong with either.
